How Functable handles website, add-on, Google, and billing data.
Last updated: September 4, 2026
This policy explains how Functable handles information for functable.com and the Functable Google Workspace™ Marketplace add-ons.
Short Version
Functable's current free functions run within Google Apps Script™ for Google Sheets™. Timezone Toolkit, PARSEJSON, GROUPBY / PIVOTBY, FUZZYMATCH, Phone Toolkit, and NAMESPLIT do not upload your spreadsheet to Functable for formula calculations. The add-ons send limited usage analytics that exclude formula arguments and cell contents. Error diagnostics and information you choose to submit through feedback are described below.
If you later choose account, dashboard, license, support, or Pro features, we may process the account, billing, support, and license-check data needed to provide those features.
Information We Process
Website Data
When you visit functable.com, our hosting and security providers may process routine technical data such as IP address, browser, device, pages requested, referring URL, and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, debug, and improve the website.
General website page-view tracking is currently disabled. Account, organization, and billing features have separate Amplitude analytics, described below. When those features use analytics in your browser, they store a randomly generated analytics identifier in a cookie that expires after one year.
Add-on and Spreadsheet Data
The current free add-ons run formula logic in Google Apps Script™. For local functions such as TZ_CONVERT, PARSEJSON, GROUPBY, FUZZYLOOKUP, PHONE_FORMAT, and SPLIT_NAME, formula inputs are processed there and are not sent to Functable or Amplitude for calculation.
Some add-on behavior may be handled by Google systems because the add-on runs inside Google Workspace™. Your use of Google Workspace™ remains subject to Google's terms and privacy policies.
Add-on Usage Analytics
The add-ons send usage events to Amplitude, our analytics service provider, to help us understand which functions and features are used and improve the product. These events can include:
- Add-on activation, opening the add-on, help or feedback dialogs, and the name of a function called.
- Whether a function call succeeded or failed, where supported by the function family.
- The function family, package name and version, host platform, environment, event timestamp, and an event identifier.
- A temporary user key supplied by Google Apps Script™, used as a pseudonymous analytics identifier. Google documents that this key is specific to the script, rotates every 30 days, and does not reveal the user's identity. If a key is unavailable, the add-on uses a shared fallback identifier. See the Google Apps Script™ session documentation.
These add-on analytics events do not include formula text, formula arguments, cell values, calculation results, spreadsheet names or identifiers, or your email address. Opening the feedback dialog records an opening event; it does not send your feedback text to Amplitude.
Error Diagnostics
Google Apps Script™ can record exceptions in Google Cloud™ diagnostic logs available to Functable for troubleshooting. These logs can include exception messages, stack traces, timestamps, and temporary user keys. Some validation errors quote the invalid value or option that caused the error, so error diagnostics may contain that portion of a formula input. These diagnostics are separate from the Amplitude usage events described above.
Feedback and Support
If you submit the add-on's feedback form, the text you enter, your optional email address, and the function family are sent to Functable's feedback endpoint and forwarded to our support inbox using Amazon Simple Email Service. Website feedback follows the same process. The form does not automatically attach your spreadsheet, formula arguments, or cell contents. Please avoid including sensitive spreadsheet data in feedback or support messages.
Account, License, and Billing Data
If you use login, dashboard, organization, or billing features, we may process information such as:
- Email address and account identifiers.
- Organization or workspace identifiers you provide.
- Subscription, license, and entitlement status.
- Stripe customer, checkout, invoice, and payment metadata. Functable does not store full card numbers.
- Support messages and any files or examples you choose to send.
In production, these features also send account and feature events to Amplitude. Sign-in analytics can include your account identifier, display name, email address, email-verification status, and account creation and last sign-in times. Organization and billing events can include organization names and identifiers, member and invitation identifiers, invitee email addresses, roles, plan details, and Stripe customer, subscription, and price identifiers. Browser events can be associated with the analytics cookie described above. These account analytics are separate from the pseudonymous add-on usage events.
API Data from Google
If Functable requests access to Google user data for a feature, the data will be used only to provide and improve that feature as disclosed here and in the Marketplace listing.
Functable's use and transfer of information received from APIs provided by Google will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How We Use Information
We use information to:

- Understand function and feature usage through the analytics described above.
- Keep local functions local whenever possible.
- Process payments through Stripe.
- Debug errors, prevent abuse, protect security, and comply with legal obligations.

Sharing
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information with service providers that help operate Functable, such as hosting, database, authentication, payment, email, analytics, logging, or security providers. These include Amplitude for the analytics described above and Amazon Simple Email Service for feedback delivery. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to Functable.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect Functable or users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, security, or accounting reasons. Formula inputs are not retained as part of Amplitude add-on usage events. Diagnostic logs and support messages may contain values included in error messages or information you choose to share, as described above.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
